The Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU) achieves educational excellence with families, schools and communities through leadership, partnership and innovation. It is one of 29 regional educational service agencies in Pennsylvania. Located in southcentral Pennsylvania, it serves Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, and northern York counties.
CAIU focuses its efforts on its 24 member school districts, 2 area vocational technical schools, over 50 non-public schools, several charter schools and cyber charter schools. In addition, it offers services of broader interest, such as operating the Mid-Atlantic Conference on Personalized Learning. For more information about CAIU, visit our website at www.caiu.org.
School Districts in the Capital Area region came together as the Capital Area Online Learning Association (CAOLA) to enter into contracts for services, develop courses, and administer a viable, cost-effective and quality online learning solution for students. Since its inception in 2009 CAOLA has expanded to other Intermediate Units and districts across Pennsylvania.
